Delfeayo Marsalis Concert with CMS, SCPA & MBHS Jazz Bands

Delfeayo Marsalis and Glen Fisher will visit Correia Middle School Jazz band, Mission Bay High School Jazz Band & School of Creative and Performing Arts Jazz Band for two Jazz Workshops at each school. On Thursday, March 24, the students will get a chance to perform with Delfeayo Marsalis directing the bands as well as joining a band of professional musicians accompanying Delfeayo Marsalis in a 'Cultural Event' at the PLNU Crill Performance Hall. Delfeayo Marsalis comes from a family of accomplished musicians. In January 2011, Delfeayo and the Marsalis family (father Ellis and brothers Branford, Wynton, and Jason) earned the nation's highest Jazz honor - a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Award. Delfeayo Marsalis will be accompanied by local musicians Ed Kornhauser on piano, Glen Fisher on bass and Duncan Moore on drums. The workshops and concert are made possible through a donation to the First Friday Music Club from the Ryan Family Charitable Foundation, The Point Loma Nazarene University providing us with the Crill Performance Hall, as well as Correia Instrumental Music Association, Mission Bay Music Booster, Friends of School of Creative & Performing Arts and the vision of Glen Fisher!
